Issues with the Heatmap map visual.

Hi fellow Power BI users.

I have 128,000 sample records which I have tried to load in to Power BI to create a Heatmap.

Issue 1. The Geocount in PowerBI only goes to 30,000 records. So I apply a slicer and select a few UK counties where the total of UK postcodes is less than 30,000. Power BI then goes off and does it thing and a nice heat map appears.

Issue 2, When I create a 2nd tab and use the selection of counties chosen to do some other analysis and go back to Tab 1. My lovely heatmap is no more and just a map appears, yet my selected counties in the slicer are still selected. And the left hand part of the counter is now showing less records of the total it should be.

Issue 3, When I save the file and reopen it. The entire heatmap visual no longer appears in the tab, just the slicer with the selected counties. And the heatmap no longer appears in the list of visuals. I have to go back and select it from the online library.

And go through the whole process again, in that when I go to tab 2 and back to tab 1, the heatmap content disappears again.

Yes I have cleared the cache and restarted power bi. redone everything and still the same issue.

Yes I have cleared the cache, turned off the laptop and restarted Power BI redone everything and still the same issue.

Yes I have even uninstalled Power BI, reinstalled Power BI redone everything and still the same issue.

Yes I have searched online and Youtube and nothing comes close to what I am experiencing.

It's coming to the point where it isn't funny anymore, as I gave up searching online at 2am this morning.Screenshot 2024-08-02 080807.png

Hi @Lee_James -Seems Power BI limits geocoding to 30,000 records, you've already applied a slicer to reduce the number of records. This is a good approach, but you might also consider aggregating data to reduce the total number of points. If the built-in or current heatmap visual is problematic alternatively you can try with other custom charts like map box or ArcGIS chart

Issue2: Make sure the slicers are synchronized across both tabs if the slicer selection on one tab should affect the other. This ensures consistency in the selected data.To synchronize slicers:Go to th view tab in Power BI Desktop>>Select Sync Slicer>>Check the slicers that should be synced across the relevant pages>> Configure the interaction that the slicer correctly interacts with the heatmap visual on Tab 1.

Issue3: issue you're experiencing with the heatmap visual disappearing upon saving and reopening the Power BI file,If the issue continues, consider using an alternative heatmap visual from the Power BI Marketplace (such as Mapbox or ArcGIS).These alternatives might provide more stability and features.

Hope it helps
