Issues connecting to sharepoint credentials error
- 9 years ago
I found the solution myself, and it is not very intuitive. There is no "change data source type" option, unfortunately, so this is what you have to do:
Step 1: import data source (again) from SharePoint as a SharePoint folder.
Step 2: go to Advanced Editor and copy data source code.
Step 3: go to your original table that points to the locally stored data source and replace the data source code with the new code.
Voila! It works.
dniedrauer but if its offline, how can it authenticate or am i being daft?
what do you mean by offline?
in Power BI, you can choose the source of your data, and many of those options are offline files (files stored locally).

hi dniedrauer,
I am having problem trying to following the steps you mentioned and hope you can explain what I have missed.
Step 1 - I perform the get and read the data from the SharePoint folder from the desktopStep 2 - I place the sharepoint URL
Step 3 - I hits credential error.
Note - the path I used to read from the SharePoint is correct.
Question -
How to proceed to your second step as I have already encountered error on the first step?
I copied and pasted your steps given in your previous post.Step 1: import data source (again) from SharePoint as a SharePoint folder.
Step 2: go to Advanced Editor and copy data source code.
Step 3: go to your original table that points to the locally stored data source and replace the data source code with the new code.
Thank you.

dniedrauer so what you saying is that you want to change the connection from a local network drive to a sharepoint drive?
where are you trying to do this? can you provide a screenshot of the error
