Issue with hierarchy getting stuck when switching parameters on slicer

Hello All!

This seemed to be working perfectly before however, I'm seeing my hierarchy in tables get stuck both in the Power BI Service and on Desktop when switching between parameters using slicers. Does any body know if this is a known issue or is there something I'm doing wrong?

I have field parameters set up so I can have different Views on a table. Switching between my Views works perfectly for "FM View", "Skill View", and "PM View - Detailed".

However, when I select "PM View - Simple" then go back to any other View. It gets stuck at the ("projectname", NAMEOF('PDW Project'[projectname]), 8, "PM View - Detailed") level and drops the hierarchy for all of the other views. The only way to reset it is if I Drill up all the way and then the hierarchy comes back.

For example here, this is how FM View should look:

But after going to the "PM View - Detailed" and going back to the "FM View" it get stuck at the project name level. I have to drill back up for it to reset! This is making it incredibly difficult for users in our org. It only happens when going from "PM View - Simple" to some other view. If I don't select that View, it works perfectly between the other 3!

Thank you!

This is a known limitation in Power BI. The visual retains drill levels and doesn’t reset automatically when toggling between different hierarchies, especially if one view has fewer levels.

    Fixes:

    1. Add a bookmark button that resets the drill state (drill-up all levels) so users can quickly “unstick” the hierarchy.

    2. Avoid mixing simplified hierarchies with detailed ones in the same field parameter group; keep hierarchy depth consistent across views.

Thanks for the idea. Our users were happy with the way it work previously and now used to being able to select a view without having the levels get stuck. They keep reporting it as an issue/bug. I really hope MS fixes this.

Yes this seems to be the same issue. Unfortunate that Microsoft has not fixed it yet.
