Issue with databrick cluster and Power BI connection using spark cluster

Question

getting this error when connecting Power BI with Azure Databricks through spark build in connector:

Details: "ODBC: ERROR [HY000] [Microsoft][DriverSupport] (1170) Unexpected response received from server. Please ensure the server host and port specified for the connection are correct."

I have seen many posts but they are refering to same content which i have already tried.

I would like to know if we need simba odbc driver to connect on my desktop or we need to have special settings on databricks cluster.

This is really annoying.

Hi,&nbsp;Anonymous&nbsp;&nbsp;Maybe old credentials are stored in Power BI, which may cause identification issues. You may purge cached data sources.(Power BI: Home &gt;Edit Queries &gt; Data source settings). The issue may be related to your odbc driver, please check and confirm&nbsp; you installed a correct version. I wonder if you are using Azure spark or on-premise spark datasource. Hello,&nbsp;Since yesterday, I cannot connect to my spark cluster datasource.I erased my authentication settings, generate a new token on databricks and log again to my data source.&nbsp;I keep getting this errorODBC: ERROR [HY000] [Microsoft][Hardy] (100) The host and port specified for the connection do not seem to belong to a Spark server. Please check your configuration.&nbsp;Do you have any ideaabout it ? My Power BI Desktop has been updated automaticaly to this version&nbsp;Version : 2.78.5740.721 64-bit&nbsp;

I had same issue, it seems to be enterprise firewalls. I didn't troubleshoot to find it out, rather used an Azure VM to try and it worked fine. So note that I am just making an assumption here.&nbsp;
