Microsoft EmployeeIssue with conditional formatting in Card visual after latest release
I have a dashboard that we use the Card (new) layout to show month-over-month and year-over-year quantity and percentage difference trends for various metrics. We use conditional formatting on the percentage difference callout value to show the text as blue (>+5%), orange (<-5%), or black (between -5% and +5%) based on their values.
Since the February 2025 release all previous conditional formatting rules appear to have been cleared out and the colors are showing as hard-coded as blue, black, or orange. However, behind the scenes, the conditional formatting still appears to be applying correctly when the value changes (based on the conditions of the previous rule). Example: last week the trend was -6% and showed orange, and this week the trend is -4% and shows black. Even though the previous rule appears removed, the color changes as expected.
What I can't get to work is applying conditional formatting to a new card visual. I'm setting up the rule exactly as before, but the color stays black for all values. I've even used the exact same metric that has previously worked with a new conditional formatting rule applied, and I can't get the text color to change as expected.
Engagement Rate is a previously applied rule, though the color appears hard coded as orange and my original rule has been cleared out. Product Referral Rate is a new rule created per the +/- 5% specifications above, but the text color stays black no matter the value.
The February 2025 release has new Conditional Formatting features for visual calculations, but this is within a card layout. If I switch from the card layout to a table, the conditional formatting works as expected.
this issue naturally resolved over time for my use case. It still appears that my previous conditional formatting rules no longer exist and the colors are hard-coded. However, the colors are changing as expected per the previous rules. We have this enabled on more than 20 dashboards with about 15 card visuals with the comparison so I'm not going back in to re-apply the conditional formatting.

ktmacThank you - I will try there! It looks like there are some known issues with other Conditional Formatting elements but I'm not yet seeing my exact use case. One of the issues has an expected resolution date in a few days so I might see if that resolves my issue.

I am havving the same issue, ktmac Have recieved any feedback or response from MS. I even changed my visual layout to table as well but still I could not get the conditional formatting worked for my callout values. However conditional formatting for reference labels and details it is working fine.
As a workaround, you can try to create a measure with required rules and use that field in conditional fromatting.
