Thanks Idrissshatila  for the quick reply. I have some other thoughts to add:

1. Make sure your on-premises data gateway is running and up to date. An outdated gateway can cause connectivity issues. Sometimes, simply restarting the on-premises data gateway resolves the connectivity issue. 

2. Check that the data source credentials are correct.
