Issue opening Power BI
Hi
I just got the same error. But I could solve it by just repairing the version of webview2 runtime that was already installed. This installed the latest version automatically which should be version 130.0.xxxxxx. Before the repair I had version 120.x.xxxx or something like that (from march 2024).
You can always ask Copilot for help, below is a reply I got when I asked how to uninstall an older version of webview2. This works for repairing too, just choose "repair" instead of uninstall. To uninstall an old version of WebView2, follow these steps:
Open Settings:
- Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
Navigate to Apps:
- Go to Apps > Apps & features.
Find WebView2:
- Scroll through the list or use the search bar to find “Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime”.
Uninstall:
- Click on the entry and select Uninstall.
- Follow the prompts to complete the uninstallation.
Verify if you are using the latest version of Power BI Desktop, as updates often include patches and enhancements that may resolve compatibility issues.
If your network operates through a proxy server or firewall, it may be blocking web requests from Power BI Desktop. To avoid this, add the following domains to the allow list in your proxy or firewall settings.
Additionally, as noted by Greg_Deckler , verify that you have the most recent Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime installed on your system. For more details, refer to the following link:

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I've already checked Power BI version and the presence in the allow list of firewall.
I'm not a developer so I have some difficulty to fully understand the content of the link https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/concepts/versioning.
Anyway, in one of the thread that you reported I've read that one user solved the issue: "I discovered the cause of my issue- an older version of WebView2 Runtime on my machine somehow didn't get deleted or overwritten. I was eventually able to delete it and all was well. ". But how I can unistall the possible older version of WebView2 Runtime?
Thanks
