Issue manipulating Power BI into separating month columns
Greetings BI Community,
I am currently working on a dashboard assignment for a customer who request a table projecting a dollar amount spent for each month. The problem is when the data was imported into power BI the customer listed the months out into individual columns by month instead of into my column listed down by row. This has caused power BI to project the months listed in under the data section the same way under the report section when I attempt to build my table. I am currently still in the process of learning power BI in full and I have attempted to no avail to build out the table manually but seem to be running in circles, hoping that someone in the community can lend a hand!

Hi Anonymous ,
This is your initial data, right? You want to unify the month columns into one column, right?
Hold down Ctrl on your keyboard and select all the month columns at the same time.
Click on Unpivot Columns
You will get a column for the month, and the corresponding value for the month, due to the lack of data on my side, your side should be more detailed.
Best Regards,

Anonymous it will be easier if you can post sample data with the requirement. Seems like you need unpivot your data but it will be easier if you share sample data.

Parry2k,
Thank you for the quick reply. I actually tried to unpivot the data but it caused the data in the report to misfunction in the table.

Anonymous can you please provide clear details, what you tried, how your data now looks like, and what you are trying to achieve otherwise I have no idea what's happening and what you want.

Okay my apologies for the confusion. I want to build a table with the months listed down into rolls under one column. Currently when I attempt to build my monthly expense table, the months list out into individual columns as you can in the screenshot I posted below. I mentioned below in my reply that I attempted to unpivot the columns but that solution did not correct the issue.

Please let me know if that adds more context to my issue and what I want to do.
