Issue in Navigation Between Linked Power BI Reports
Hello Team,
I am having a power bi report called Homepage in that I have sales report and Profit report sections where sales report is 1 power bi report and profit report is another power bi report I will publish Homepage report, sales report and profit report to power bi service and I will create a app of these 3 reports when I click on sales summary button in Homepage report it should take me to sales summary page in Sales Report likewise when I click on profit summary button in Homepage report it should take me to profit summary page in profit report how to achieve this functionality. I got the required result for this requirement however it is not opening the page in the same tab it is opening is different tab is there a way to solve this issue. If so please guide. Thank you!!

You cannot open other reports within the same tab from a Power BI button or link. The only workaround is consolidating all pages into a single report to avoid the need for cross-report navigation.

Currently, Power BI does not fully support opening different reports within the same tab when navigating between multiple reports published as part of an app. When you link buttons to external reports using Web URL or report page navigation, Power BI typically opens these links in a new browser tab or window for security and session management reasons.
Unfortunately, there’s no native option at this time to force these cross-report navigations to open in the same tab.
One potential workaround is to consolidate all related report pages (Sales Summary and Profit Summary) into a single Power BI report file; this allows you to navigate seamlessly between pages using standard page navigation buttons or bookmarks, all within the same report and tab.
This approach simplifies navigation and provides a smoother user experience without needing to open new browser tabs. Hopefully, Microsoft may introduce more flexible cross-report navigation options in future Power BI updates, but for now, this consolidation is the most practical solution.

You can follow the below steps.
- Publish the Sales and Profit reports Power BI Service and then create a App for those two reports.
- Create a HomePage report with Buttons.
- Select a button (1)
- Go to button style > Text > Rename as Sales Report
- Go to Action > Select WebURL as Type > Add Sales report App URL
- Select button (2) and repeat the point 2 & 3 for Profit report
- Publish the HomePage report to Workspace and update the App.
But the Power BI natively doesn't support for the report opening in a new tab. The report will open in the same tab/page.

Even when using the link from app, the click of button opens a new browser tab.
Seems feature update needs to be requested to ms.
