Issue: Connecting Oracle EBS + ODAC

Hi all!

Docs that helped a little:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-connect-oracle-database

https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/powerbi-docs/issues/2147

https://help.insightsoftware.com/s/article/Dot-Net-Framework-3-5-install-fails?language=en_US

I'm running into a problem with PowerBI and Oracle EBS. I'm trying to make a connection with the EBS database, but it's not working so far. Here's what I've tried:

ODAC V12

1. Download ODAC version V12 and tried to make a connection with the database through PowerBI desktop | Result: "Details: The provider being used is out of date: 'System.Data.OracleClient'" - I assume this is about ODAC version 12.

So I've decided to try one of the latests versions of ODAC, V19.

ODAC V19

1. Downloaded the ZIP and followed the instruction manual.

2. The manual stated "You must choose a Windows Installer version since x-copy version doesn't work with Power BI Desktop.", but there are only X-copy versions?!

3. I've found this github page about the issue with ODAC and x-copy. After many attempts, I kept getting errors with step 3 and 4. Windows stated that I had to install NET framework 3.5.

4. I've tried to install NET framework 3.5 but it keeps saying "The following feature couldn't be installed"

5. I've googled for potential solution, but those didn't work either.

Note that i'm a total tech rookie. I'm looking for a solution so we can connect our Oracle database to PowerBI. Please let me know if you know the or another solution.

Qs:

- What version of ODAC can I use

- How do i pass the X-copy limitations with windows 11

- Are there other ways to connect the Oracle database

Thanks!

@Anonymous ,  Few things I have tried in past

1. I have done an entry of the install path of the driver in windows path variable

2. I have added an entry in tnsname.ora of the driver

Make sure all steps in topic post are followed
