Is there a way to copy paste a BI file and change just the data but still have the visuals and formulas there?

I have for example one file built for company A and want to have exactly the same for company B - but of course the data differs between them.  How do I do that smooth?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Try to save the BI file built for company A as a template file(.pbit). And then, open the .pbit file and connect to the data of company B.

Power BI report templates contain the following information from the report from which they were generated:

  • Report pages, visuals, and other visual elements
  • The data model definition, including the schema, relationships, measures, and other model definition artifacts
  • All query definitions, such as queries, Query Parameters, and other query elements

What is not included in templates is the report's data.

Reference:

Create report templates for Power BI Desktop;

What is the difference between .pbix and .pbit ?

Or, you can go to Advanced Editor and change the source code.

Best regards
