Is there a tool to debug my Power BI desktop queries & data model..preferably excel

Is there a tool to debug my queries & data model?

I have some merged and appended queries in which my results are not what I'd expect.

I'd like to link my Power BI desktop data model to excel in order to "debug" my data queries and model.

On the surface, the "Connect to Data" capability in the Power Bi excel add-in would be sufficient but...perhaps I am not fully understanding its capabilities. it appears that I can only use measures to see the data values from my data model.

I'd like to be able to link my queries and data model tables to excel tables for me view see each row in the data and debug it.

I hope this makes sense.

thanks

I tend to use the table and matrix to help check my figures. I also build extra queries to test my data.

You can also connect to powerbi as if it was an an analysis services server from Excel/SQL management Studio etc

It's a little bit tricky but this post expains how to do it.

If you've pushed your model to the powerbi service then you can use the excel add in

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-analyze-in-excel

You can also add excel tables into your powerbi model and use other merged or appended queries in your model to check it.
