Is there a Refresh Log?

Is there a log of Refresh progress actions produced when you refresh a report?

I have a report experiencing many failures but the messages seem to point to tables tht are perfectly fine. I suspect that when one thing goes wrong it just snowballs and starts causing spurious error messages.

I would be nice to be able to see which table threw what message and in what order.

    Hi Anonymous ,

Based on my understanding, Power BI Service does provide a way to view the refresh history. Here's how you can access the refresh logs:

1.Click on the dataset to open its settings.

2.Look for the "Refresh history" section. Here you will see a history of the refresh attempts, including successful and failed refreshes.

3.Click on Show button and you can see when the refresh was done, whether it succeeded, and any error messages if it wasn’t able to complete

You can refer to the official documentation for more information about refresh in power bi.

While this is useful, it isn't as detailed as I was looking for. I need to see the particulars of a failure beyond the typical, "didn't work" messages. One in particular that tasks me is, "OLE DB or ODBC error: Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040E4E." While there are many posts about this they all boil down to an issue with characters/formats os dates (If I recall).

I would be nice if it would say that Column X of table Y had this issue and maybe even which record number. I've done  several projects that process data and this is basic information we always provided the users. I suspect that it likely exists in some log somewhere for Power Bi refreshes.

Curious if you were ever able to get a solution to this? We are encountering a similar issue where a scheduled refresh fails 50% of the time. The error message isn't helpful in pinpointing the issue.
