Hello All,
Need your inputs.
I have a report which has 4 stacked bar charts. I want to make interaction like - if select a bar in one chart then it should lock there and act as a filter on another graphs and then if I select other graph (the bar in first chart still locked and not deselected) other bars should show the applicable data.
For example-
If I select a bar for 'Monday' in 'Crime by day' graph then other 3 should display the data for monday and then by still holding the Monday on I need to click on 'Feb' bar in 'Crime By month' graph and then remaining 2 top bars should display data for 'Monday' and 'Feb'.
Currenlty if I select the 'Feb' then 'Monday' gets de-selected.
Anyone has any idea about how to achieve this type of functionality? Please advise.
Thanks!
Hi @Anonymous,
PG team plan the feature to cross highlight in multiple charts. You can vote this idea up: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/6919488-ability-to-select-multiple-items-in-a-report-for-c

Hey,
unfortunately this kind of "hierarchical" or "cascading" filtering is not supported, I guess the concept of cross-filtering makes this currently very difficult.
For this reason I use a matrix visual, where I can achieve something similar, because it's also possible to use a value as filter.
Maybe this gives you an idea.

Tom
Hi Tom,
Thanks for quick response but I didn't understand how to get something closer with matrix visual. Could you please shed some light on this in details?
Thanks
Harshad
Hey,
maybe this gives you an idea. The Matrix Visul has Month and Customer nested on rows and items on columns
The first Screenshot shows all the values for the year 2015
The next visual shows all the values of the year 2015 for the item 5, I just selected the column header I5
And finally I selected the value 20 for April (Row Header) in the column I5
Of course this is not exactly what you are looking for, but I got used to use the Matrix Visual to combine Filter in a lot of my reports.
Maybe this gives you an idea.
Regards
Tom
Hi Tom,
I really appreciate your time and efforts for your help. I will map this with my requirement.
Thank you again!
