Intellisense - How to get semicolon as list separator?

Hi guys!

Have any of you been successful in getting Intellisense to use semicolon as list separator instead of commas? It used to work beautifully before Intellisense, but for some reason it no longer picks up that I prefer semicolon. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Power BI seems to ignore my preference set, while Excel recognizes semicolon as a list separator:

Thanks!

Hi Lucien!

Beautiful! There is, however, still one problem. It overwrites the local decimal point (I use commas) with dots:

.. Would it be possible to also have decimal points decided by Locale Settings??

Thank you!

Hi  @JEJLERSEN ,

Pls adjust the configuration section according to the picture below and then test if you can achieve what you want.

Hi Lucien!

Thank you so much for getting back to me.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall Power BI and set the settings as you say. Meanwhile this is what my formulas look like in Excel (semicolon works as list separator).
 Excel using semicolonExcel using semicolon

Yet, as you can see, Intellisense in Power BI is using commas as list separator.
Power BI using commasPower BI using commas

.. It is also a problem for decimals (in Denmark we use commas as a decimal separator, where Intellisense insists on using dots.)

Thank you for looking into this!

Hi @JEJLERSEN ,

I think the below picture is what you want to achieve:

I only do what I reply before, the below is the detail steps:

Step 1,adjust the below:

Step 2,Open Power BI desktop,File > Options and settings > Options. In the Global section, select Regional Settings> DAX separators:

Then restart the Power BI desktop,

Hi Lucien,

Thank you for getting back to be me.

Are you working in the October update:

I have the settings you described, but still have commas as list seperators:

... I work in Office 365 - could that have something to do with it?

Thank you so much for helping me out here! 🙂
/Jonas

Hi @JEJLERSEN ,

I tried it in the October version of Power BI Desktop in Microsoft Store and it did not work. I will continue to try it in multiple versions and if none of them work, I will report the bug. you can download the previous version to try it at this link. I'm sorry for the confusion.

The useful version I use is:Version: 2.96.1061.0 64-bit (August 2021)

Hi Lucien,
I am kind of happy to hear that you can also not get it to work. I was beginning to go a bit insane trying to figure out, which setting I had wrong 😂
As you say, it works fine in previous versions, but I would like to keep my favorite tool up to date, so hopefully the new Intellisense will be able to pick it up at some point 😉

Thanks again for looking into it!
/Jonas

Hi @JEJLERSEN ,

I have reported the problem and will inform you as soon as there is progress in the follow-up.

thats difned by the model languague its setted up if dont bad remember, but that can only be changed when creating the model from 0, if its a existing one it wont be able to change the model language under ragional setting you can find this option, other tham that power bi doesnt give you a option to change those kind of setting directly

Hi Stefano!

Thank you for your answer. I just tried setting up a new report, but Intellisense still wants me to use commas as List Separators instead of semicolons.
It used to work until just the other day, when Intellisense was implemented, and I have A LOT of reports, which will be affected by this issue, if I can't get it back to semicolons 😅

... Are you able to get Intellisense to use semicolon as List Separator?
