Integrating GIT with PowerBI

Hi, I'm looking to use GIT at our organization to back up our PowerBI Reports and hopefully split out the data and the front end.  I did see one article on this

Which talks about creating dashboards .

I've been a developer but never connected GIT to PowerBI, so is there a simple "Connecting to GITHUB to PowerBI for Dummies?"

@Anonymous, @v-easonf-msft Microsoft finally released the integration of GIT with the June 2023 release:

What I am not sure about is, if Azure Devops is needed for this (we do have already github in use in our company). Because when I look at the minute [15:31] I can see that Publish button in the ribbon menu is grayed out.

Does this mean we can publish "only" pbix-files but not projects files?

Found the answer to my above question. The publish button is grayed out because it is in preview: See:

Power BI doesn't support to use built-in GIT to back up PowerBI Reports.

And if you just want to integrate Git with PowerBI, the most straightforward way is to use GitHub template app.

A lot of replies to GitHub questions are beyond me. They assume a level of knowledge I don't have. I've created some repos (basically just folders with some stuff in them), but if I want to set up my Power BI environment so that my code (reports/dashboards0 is stored in Git, is that simple to set up?

Thank you for your suggestions, and we'll probably stay away for now, from the 3rd party solution.

I have some new information.  And based on your response i did have a few questions

1) I now have more details about our PowerBI/GIT requirements.
   We already have a git/Azure installation in place, and we would be looking to find a way to split out the report and store them out to our current git/Azure environment. Can you give me any advice?

1) What are your experiences using PBI and GIT, what were the highs and lows, successes and otherwise regarding integration? Anything to be aware of?
