Install Power BI Desktop and Paginated Report Builder on same machine - using Oracle DB
FYI I got this working, but it took some doing. First, I had to ignore the recommendations to use just the Oracle ODAC client. The links off MS site sent me to an old version ODAC. Also, ODAC offered limited install options. Instead I installed the latest full Oracle 12C client.
I got this all working 1st by installing 32-bit Oracle client, then 32-bit Desktop and Paginated Report Builder on 64-bit Windows 10. Once that worked I got it working on 64-bit.
The order of install was important. I had to install 32-bit Oracle client first and then 64-bit Oracle client. I installed both to separate home directories. Then I installed Power BI Desktop 64-bit and Paginated Report Builder 32-bit. I was able to verify that Desktop was using the 64-bit client and Report Builder is using 32-bit client. All is working as required.
Good times.
