Incremental refresh dissapear my previous data to create visuals

I want to use incremental refresh to just update data from december 2021, but I want to create visuals with dates previous to december 2021. When I use incremental refresh the historic data dissapears, is there any workaround?

I cannot load data per month due to it is a csv file >1GB, so I download as CSV and upload it to power bi through sharepoint folder

Hi,

I want to create visuals for the data that is not considered in the incremental refresh; can I do that?

And when pressing refresh ONLY the data after the start date of the incremental refresh gets to be updated

Hi @owongisaza ,

I'm a little confused about your needs. Are you connecting to a on-premises CSV file or a CSV file on SharePoint in Power BI Desktop ? If it connect to a CSV file on SharePointdata from the .csv file is then imported into the dataset in Power BI. Power BI then automatically connects to the file and refreshes any changes with the dataset in Power BI. If you edit the .csv file in OneDrive, or SharePoint Online, once you save, those changes will appear in Power BI, usually within about an hour. Any visualizations in Power BI based on the dataset are automatically updated too. You can find the details in the below official documentation. Then it is not necessary to configure schedule refresh....

Refresh a dataset created from a .CSV file on OneDrive or SharePoint Online

In addition, you can get more details(supported data sources, How it works and configuration etc.) from the following links about incremental refresh.

What's your expected result? Do you want to create visuals with only "history data"?

Best Regards

@owongisaza if I read this post correctly, you have an incremental refresh configured for CSV files, correct? If that is the case it doesn't work for CSV files but there is a workaround which you can find on this post How you can incrementally refresh any Power BI data source (This example is a CSV File) - Reporting/...
