Incremental Refresh on pbix
Hi
I'm importing folder as source in a file. Since most of the files don't change, its pain to have them refreshed every run unnecessarily.
Am I allowed to set up incremental refresh on pbix file. I've free account.
Regards
G1
Hey g1_p ,
incremental refresh works only for sources that support query folding, so only for relational databases.
With folders directly you cannot have incremental refresh, neither in the Power BI Service, nor Power BI Desktop.
You could however load your folders by Azure synapse and then do a incremental refresh on Azure synapse. But I guess that's now what you are looking for.
Sorry about that.

Hey g1_p ,
as I said the data source must support query folding what requires a relational database. So in a normal state it won't work with files either. You can do some workarounds if the incremental refresh is a really necessary requirement. Check the article from Gilbert:
Be aware that incremental refresh only works in Power BI Service. You have to set it up in Power BI Desktop, but the incremental refresh itself only happens in Power BI Service. Maybe check the following article about incremental refresh:

As far as I remember incremental refresh also needs at least a Pro account. But I'm not sure if that's still the case.
