Incremental Refresh - Power BI not detecting parameters

Hi,

We're looking to set up incremental refreshes for one of our queries, coming from an ODBC source. Following the suggestions in this link here, we defined two parameters 'RangeStart' and 'RangeEnd', that were configured as dates. The next step is then filtering the table using those parameters in Power Query, which was no problem, so we clicked 'Close & Apply'. When we then try to configure the incremental refresh in the data view we're presented with the following error message.

If anyone has encountered this or knows of ways around it it would be greatly appreciated, this has frustrated us to no end!

We face the exact same problem (source being a lakehouse sql end point though). I tried all the above steps and still get the error, I am beyond frustrated at this point, as this is very business critical for us. @Naveen any suggestions?

Hello @Anonymous 

Once the parameters are set up, a Custom filter must be created in ur table that uses the above-created parameters. Did you do that?

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, this step was completed with no problem. The issue we're having is that once we've loaded the data from Power Query the next step in setting up the incremental refresh, and this will not work.

I can suggest you couple of ways to debug this.

• Please ensure you already enabled the "Incremental Refresh Policies" preview feature in desktop. 
• See if you set RangeStart and RangeEnd as datetime, it should be defined as datetime
• Can you check the last step of your query to see if native query is greyed out as below.

 

• If this is greyed out, navigate to prior steps one by one and see which step still has native query not greyed out. Remove all the steps below that and try now.

Note: don't remove the filter parameter step, just rearrange it.
