Increase speed and/or reduce resources

Hi, when building my PBI decks I often wonder whether the best thing to do is to do as much T-SQL data modeling first before building in the columns and measures.

With a PBI using an import as a datasource, is it better to do as much T-SQL work and leave the rest for DAX and Power Query? Is there a way to determine where to build, if you have an option to change the SQL, Transform the data or add measures and columns?

@Anonymous , It is always good to bring data into power bi in Star schema format with ETL and transformation done at database/sql level. Any Transformation done on power bi will increase the load time.

Thanks for the response.   It seems like the more you can do at the database level before data loads into PBI, the faster and more efficient your dashboard/Report will be.
