Incorrect Counts in Power BI Chart with Custom Hierarchy
Hi everyone,
I am creating a stacked column chart in Power BI using a manually created hierarchy on the X-axis (Team → Work Center → Shift Type). However, I’ve noticed that the Y-axis values are lower than expected — the row count seems to be smaller than it should be.
The measure on the Y-axis is a simple row count using COUNTROWS(). Both the measure and the hierarchy fields come from the same table, so I don’t believe this is related to the data model. There are also no blank values in the dataset.
Has anyone else encountered a similar issue or have any idea what might be causing this behavior? Any insights or troubleshooting suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If everything is coming from the same table you should get the correct results, check if you have any filter applied at report, page or visualization level.
To check if everything is fine I would start by adding my calculation without any hierarchy to my page and see if the value is correct, then start adding levels of the hierarchy starting at the highest level, that way you can filter out the information in the table view and check if the number match.

It turns out that one of the hierarchy levels had a filter applied, which caused the chart to display lower values than expected. Once I removed that filter, the numbers aligned correctly with the overall dataset.
