Improve "Creating connection in model..." Performance?

I'm connecting PowerBi to a database through an ODBC driver, however the "Creating connection in model" phase of the query takes a disproportionately long amount of time compared to actually loading ...

What is your data source? Reason I asked, why you want to use ODBC in case PowerBI has direct connection to your data source?

It's an Old Unibasic DB.

    OOps, sorry have no experience with that, seems like ODBC the way to go and not sure what can be done to improve the performance. Hope someone else can help you.
