Improve DAX in measures

Hello,

I'm having the below VAR function in different measures. In order to improve the performance, I call them out by having dedicated measures but not sure if this is possible.

Hereafter the VAR functions

VAR LPeriod_selected =
SWITCH ( TRUE (), [Selec_LPeriod] = "PY", "AC", [Selec_LPeriod] )
VAR CNLP_selected = "USD"
VAR PY_Year =
SWITCH ( TRUE (), [Selec_LPeriod] = "PY", [MaxYear] - 1, [Selec_Year] )
VAR Scale_Selected = Scale_Table[Selec_Scale]

And hereafter and example where I use these VARs

CALCULATE (
SUMX ( Data, Data[Value] ),
Data[Account] = "Revenue",
Data[Scenario] = LPeriod_selected,
Data[Currency] = CNLP_selected,
Data[Year] = PY_Year,
)

Thank you in advance,

Hi @bgt

Using "Var" in measure instead of creating many measures may improve performance.

If you create measures seperately, please drop "var" in each measure, they should be like:

measure1=sum([column])

You could down load DAX Studio/Performance Analyzer(in Power BI) to monitor performance of measures.

@bgt these VAR will be separate measures, and if these are getting used in multiple measures, keep it separate and use it in the measures, cascading of measures is ok.
