Helper IIIImporting images: Is it worth compressing?
I've developed a landing page with thumbnail images of about 20 reports. I imported the images in Power BI Desktop. I'm wondering what impact the size of the images has on the loading time in service. If I compress the images before importing them in Power BI Desktop would they load faster online? Or is it loading slow primarily due to the number of visuals on the page?

Mainer04401There are no joins, there's actually no data at all. It's just a landing page of thumbnail images with links to my organization's reports that exist in multiple workspaces and apps. The landing page is a way to centralize all of the reports and give users a one stop shop.
My question is how Power BI handles images that are imported in Desktop. Should I take care to make sure that the images are as small/compressed as possible for quickest load time or does this not matter so much?

whenever you import an image, there is option on the formatting of the image as follows:
Generally it is recommended to use FIT scaling.

Do you know if the scaling actually reduces the image size that is being loaded or would it still load the original images and then scale to size? The latter wouldn't change load time performance unfortunately.

Based on my test, 'FIT' scale is not helpful to reduce the image size. You may modify the file name suffix as '.zip'. Then you may find the image in the following path to check the actual size.
