Importing empty table, just header

Helo everyone,

i am trying to import an empty table, just the header.
The idea is to create a desktop before a survey, with all the variables (with no observations) creating all the visualisations i want. And then when the survey start, the visualisations will actualise taking the first observations and so on.

For the moment the only solution i am thinking about is to fill 5-6 observations, create the visualisations with them and then delete the observations leaving the visualisations empty but existing. But it takes me lots of time as i need to make sure every types of questions are being answered in those 5-6 observations which is difficult given all the filters i have in my survey.

The main problem i have, is that i need to make sure all the colomns are present in my desktop, otherwise if a new observation has a particular situation showing another question, the desktop will not actualise as there would be one more column than before...

My data source is a Web server where the data of the survey are being stored (kobo).

Thank you a lot for your help and advices!

Quentin

hi, @Quentin

I think you may try to create a .Pbit file like this:

https://fileinfo.com/extension/pbit

Hello Lin,

Thank you for your answer. A template can be an interesting way to answer to my situation. The only thing is that every survey we are making are different with different indicators. Therefore i would need to design one template for every survey. Still i need a fake observation before the survey to design the template thus.

But the template partially respond to my problem as i do not need a fake observation in the database during the survey.
Thank you a lot,

Quentin

hi, @Quentin

Assuming that you could import table, just header. then how do you create the report template?

If there is no data, all the visual will not be shown with any effects and you couldn't adjust or optimize them.

You have to have some data to test (data sample), so a template file is a great way to your situation, just import some data sample

and save as a PBIT file.

Best Regards,
Lin
