Importing data from protected excel files
The company I work for uses protected excel files for a lot of its work, which PBI cannot seem to open, but I do not have the required access to just save local unprotected copies to import from.
Is there any way to open the protected files with PBI that I've missed, or should I try to ask that the files be made available on something like SharePoint instead?

opening password protected files is currently not supported, you can vote the idea: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/9422748-connect-to-password-protected-excel-workbook
so moving them somewhere else seems to be the option you have
