Import PowerPivot workbook - keep connection

Hi

I wonder if its possible to import powerpivot excel workbook into powerbi but only import connection only?

My idea is that, I want to keep all the model and measures within the workbook and powerbi reads data from it. So really i just need to refresh powerpivot.

Idea behind this is - powerpivot can be located in the restricted folder with only nominated users who can refresh the model.

So even someone else can keep hold of the pbix file they cant find how model is built e.g calculated columns, measures etc...

THanks for your advice.

@Anonymous It sounds like you want to create a live connection, which is an interesting thought seeing as how the underlying technology is the same as tabular in SSAS, but "no" you currently can't do this. I don't see the difference between having an Excel file or PBIX file in a restricted folder... If someone were to gain access, either file would be accessible.
