Images Loading Slowly (Glacially Slow)

I have Projects table and a related Photos table. There are hundreds of photos tied to a single project in some cases. The idea is a user selects a specific project and all the photos associated with that project will be presented in a visual ("Chiclet Slicer" visual, on the left below). Then, once the user selects a specific photo, a larger image of the same photo will be displayed on a separate visual ("Simple Image" visual, on the right below). The issue is it takes hours to load the images on a project that has lots of photos, so that's obviously not useable. As mentioned, I'm using the Chiclet Slicer below. I've tried different visuals, tried reducing the image size on the photos (from within the PowerBI visual's settings), but images still loading very slowly.

To me this seems like a size-of-image issue (i.e. the photos are too large). Perhaps this would require an image size reduction software tool to reduce the image size (in the source system) before being brought into the PowerBI data model? But I wanted to check to see if anyone has any ideas on things to be done within PowerBI to help the images load more quickly.
