If Data Agent uses Prep data for AI metadata?
Hello,
If Data Agent uses Prep data for AI metadata?
Or this is dedicated only for Copilot...?
Best,
Jacek
Hi jaryszek
The short answer is yes. While Microsoft often brands the "Prep data for AI" features alongside Copilot, these optimizations are not strictly exclusive to it.
The "Prep data" process essentially enriches your Semantic Model by generating descriptions, synonyms, and classifying data types. Since a Data Agent (whether built via Copilot Studio or within the Fabric ecosystem) relies on this same Semantic Model for grounding, having high-quality metadata is critical.
Without these descriptions and synonyms, a Data Agent might struggle to map a user's natural language query to the correct technical column. By using "Prep data for AI," you are effectively building a better "map" for any AI agent—not just the standard Copilot—to navigate your dataset accurately.
