Icons not displaying correctly after updating Power BI Desktop (January 2026 Version: 2.150.1704.0)

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently updated my Power BI Desktop to Version: 2.150.1704.0 (January 2026) and noticed something odd:
3 out of 5 icons in the left-hand navigation pane are not displaying correctly.

Here’s what I’m seeing:

Instead of the usual icons, a few of them appear as solid black shapes.
I’m not sure if this is an intentional design change in the January release or if it’s a rendering issue on my end.

Has anyone else encountered the same problem after updating?
Would love to know if this is a known issue or if I should reinstall/clear cache.

Thanks! 🙌

Hello @syl-ade

it’s a known rendering issue, not a design change.

Several users are seeing black/solid icons in the left navigation after upgrading to Power BI Desktop Jan 2026 (2.150.1704.0). It’s related to UI rendering / GPU acceleration, not your report.

this is a bug

Issue: In Power BI Desktop v2.150.1704.0 (January 2026), some interface icons (like view/navigation icons) appear as solid black when using Dark or Clear themes, making them hard to see.

Cause: This is a UI rendering bug linked to the January 2026 release — many users are reporting the same thing. The problem is being tracked by the product team and a resolution is expected in an upcoming update.

Workarounds (temporary):

  • Switch to Light theme — icons display normally.
  • Roll back to a previous Power BI Desktop version until the issue is fixed.

I'm using light theme and the icons do not display correctly.
