Icon Map's geoJSON layer become inactive when I use Lat and Long for data point.

Hi

I am wokring on Icon Map to show data points with custom icons and added a reference layer using geoJSON. But the moment I add data points using Lat and Long the the reference layer gets inactive. Please see below images for reference:

This is geoJSON reference layer :

This is after I add data points:

So the reference layer become inactive and show grey color.

Please asist.Inactive reference layer.PNGReference layer Before Data points.PNG

Hi @PowerBIInfogain

The reason your geojson layer becomes inactive when you include Lat and Long records to add the images, is as follows.

Images and geojson items are treated as separate items in Icon Map. A row of data can either relate to an image, or a polygon within the geojson file, but not both at the same time.

If you need to add both images and color your GeoJSON polygons, then they will need to be on separate rows in your data table.

This blog post tries to explain: https://icon-map.com/blogs/blogs.html#multiobjects

Thanks

James

Hi James, I downloaded the example at the link you provided (Multi object).

While the table shows rows for circle, lines, WKT points, and WKT polygons I'm unclear how I would reference a polygon from a GeoJson file in a row as mentioned above (Perhaps I misunderstood)?

Is that just via the "Category" field setting?

Is there perhaps an ICON example that combines a point layer (either Lat/Lon or WKT points) with polygons from a hosted GeoJson file?

Thank you.

Hi, @PowerBIInfogain

Layer order determines which objects will come to the front when selected. Whenever you select an object on the report canvas, it becomes active and moves to the top layer. For visuals, this makes it easier to interact with the selected visual. For shapes and backgrounds, however, you may want to secure them to the bottom layer, so that you can't accidentally select them and cover or obscure your report visuals.

You can refer to the following documents to change the layering order of visuals and shapes in your reports.

Hi

Thank you for replying but the article you shared is not related to icon map or any map visual for refernce layer.
