So, I just started at a company. They do not know much about technology. They are asking me about a computer for Power BI Desktop, SSRS, SSIS and SSMS. With a dash of Microsoft Dynamics thrown in. So, I keep saying at least 32 GB of RAM, i7 Processor. But they just sent me specs with the following processor: Intel(R), Xeon(R) E-2176M CPU @2.70 GHz 2.71GHz., Installed RAM: 64GB (which is great) and its a 64 bit operating system with WIndows 11 Enterprise on it.
Need to know if the processor will be fast enough to run these apps. I would assume that it would be. But I want to verify before telling my new boss, lets do this, you know?
Thanks in advance.
That lines up pretty well with my machine. Power BI Desktop consumes a lot of Memory, but I don't typically have CPU issues. It was critical to get 64GB of Memory installed though.
It can be a bit misleading sometimes to have the extra Memory as what you can pull off in Power BI Desktop will surpass what you can do in Power BI Service (depending on your Capacity)
And local hard drive space, those temp files and backups add up quick.
