Hi,
Is it possible to prevent the software updating itself?
The issue I have is that the version I use on my work laptop is only updated through an official request to our IT department, which can be quite an onerous process and slow to initiate through them.
I also have a version on my personal laptop at home which I sometimes use. So quite often I will work with files on either machine. I want to ensure that my personal version is the same version as the one I use in work.
At present both are using the July 2024 version but I don't recall seeing a message on my personal laptop asking me if I want to install the latest version, so I presume it updated itself?
The version on my personal laptop is:
Version: 2.131.1203.0 64-bit (July 2024)

As far as I'm aware if you download a local install of the power bi then it should not update on it's own unless you manually re-install the udpated version. In your case I belive the IT might have installed the Store/App version of the Power Bi desktop which tends to update automatically.
Here is a link to offline installer.
Download Microsoft Power BI Desktop from Official Microsoft Download Center
