How to shape financial year data in Power BI
Hello, this is my first post so I hope you can bare with me and help me out.
I have some data from the NHS that is in Financial Year format - does/can Power BI recognise this at all?
As shown below, the Years are in the format "2010/11" and the Period in "Q1".
I've tried changing the format to time>year but they are greyed out. Can Power BI only accept years in the format YYYY? If so, how can I manage this data effectively so that the graph is plotted correctly?
As you can see from the second image below, the years are currently all in the wrong order.
I would really apereciate some help - I am just starting out with this new software so these simple tasks are proving to be quite tricky!
Thanks.
John

Hi johnp001,
In my opinion, I'd like to suggest you add a calendar table with calculate column to stored formatted financial date and use relationship to link these tables based on financial date field.
Then you can simply use date(calendar table) and amount(financial table) to create visualizations.
