How to restrict sort order in tabular view

Hi,

I want to show Top Performers in table and they must be in a descending order.

Now, what happening with my application is, whenever User mistakenly clicked on the column header, the sorting order is getting collapsed. And, Top Performers will show the buttom record first. 😞

Yes, I can keep some NOTES on the page regarding such cases. But, In Power BI, is there any way to restrict our table values in specific order?( i.e. If user clicked on any column header, the sorting must not be changed)

It will be so good, If we can able to do it.

Please suggest.

Thanks in Advance

Farin.

Hi,

I had the same issue like you. Now I have found a working solution I can live with:

1. Create a new text box or shape

2. Disable border, backround color and visual header

3. Put the text box or shape over the column headers

This will avoid that someone can click on the column headers.

Hope that helps!

Best Regards

Semih

Hi @farinshaikh,

I'm afraid that we are not able to disable table column header sorting features to the client users currently. If we mistakenly click the column header to sort the column ascending, we can also click it to sort descending.

Hi @farinshaikh

I don't think it is possible to do what you suggest for the moment. I agree it would be great 🙂

A few solutions I can suggest though:

- Add a column with the rank of the sales so the user can see the impact of his column header click

- Bring in some conditional formatting on the sales column to give the user a clear view on what is the current sorting

What do you think ?

Hope it helps you 🙂
