How to move the Power Bi Desktop Reports from DEV to Test

Hi All,

 

I want to move my power bi file from Dev to Test . Is there any single connection to change the data source instead of going and changing the each every table.

    There is a File | Options and settings | Data Source Settings but you just get the option to change the credentials. I wonder if the new Parameters feature could help solve this in the future.

      Hi Smoupre,

       

      In data source settings we can change only credentials but my question is where we can change the server name, database name  instead of going to change each and every table.

        Narendra Here are several examples that will help you going forward. Unfortunetely, if you have existing queries, you will need to update them each, but going forward either of these solutions will assist you in making your reports repeatable to change environments.

    Narendra Perhaps you should consider powerbi template feature avaialbe with april desktop update and use that for your dev and test environment. It lets you create template file that has template but no data. I am not sure though whether evern with that you will have to change each table manually.
