How to maintain version or source of a PBIX file?

I am unable to add the PBIX files to the TFS server.

Is there any other approach to maintain the version of the PBIX files as well as to allow multiple users to work on the same source code base?

Best Regards

Vipin

Hi @vipinkmathews,

As suggested by Eno1978 in this similar thread, You could dd the PBIX files to the folders you create under Source Control by using the file/folder storage of TFS. To edit .pbix file, you should double click on your PBIX file, and edit it in Power BI Desktop.

@v-yulgu-msft

I tried the same earlier by adding PBIX under the VS Solution folder. Unfortunately TFS is not allowing to checkin or add the PBIX files to the TFS server project location.

Hi @vipinkmathews,

Maybe you can use the Power BI service to maintain version of a .pbix file with multiple report developers.

Create an App Workspace, add those users as members with at least edit permission to this workspace. Each time publish the modified .pbix file to this workspace, so that members can download the .pbix file locally and edit report using desktop.

But I saw that the downloaded file is a readonly copy.

Can this be used for further development?
