How to have full width page header when using column groups

I have what seems like a simple issue, but can't for the life of me figure it out. I have a simple tablix which has a column group which repeats for each month of the year. This is a landscape-oriented report, so that there's room for all 12 months. I then need a page header which repeats a trademark on the left side of the page, and "page n of n" needs to be on the far right side. But because the tablix is narrow, I can't get anything in a footer to print all the way across the page.

Here's my layout. The "month" is the column group which repeats across the page for each month.

Unfortunately, anything I place to the right of the tablix (which stretches to the right margin when printing all 12 months), ends up forcing a blank page with only the footer on it every other page. And the footer wording on the left (which is much longer than what I show here) stops at the edge of the first month and just keeps wrapping, so if I put the full text in there (which should take 3 lines, 10" wide), it would take up half or more of a page.

There must be a way to do something so simple. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous ,

as far as I know, it is always a good idea to set the page width to the target page width. (physical page width - margin)

Then you can calculate the maximum column width and use the space for your footer.

@mwegener  That's what I would have assumed, and is how I originally designed it. But as soon as I make the page more than about 1" wider than my tablix, it starts kicking out a blank page every other page. So I only have about 4" to work with, even though the report is set up 11 x 8.5 and margins are all .25.

I could hard-code the columns if I have to and I'm sure that will work, but it seems crazy to me that this functionality doesn't exist. Unless it's something that worked in SSRS and isn't working in Report Builder - I've run into that a couple times already.
