How to get a report to read a value from a query string and use it to filter data

Hi All,

Hopefully this is the right section for this.

We have a link to a BI report embedded in a page of a web portal.

I am looking for a way of passing a value in the query string which the report then reads and uses to filter the report on a display.

I have tried the query string advice given at

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-url-filters

as well as using a parameter as discussed at

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/paginated-reports/report-builder-url-pass-parameters)

but have had no success.

Our set up does not use the cloud/azure power bi set up but uses an instance of power bi report server hosted on an internal server so maybe the functionality does not exist.

Given it's fairly standard web functionality and report server uses web connectivity I'm hoping that's not the case.

Thanks
