I would like to run my Python Script in PBI on the backend like I can with "R". How is that done? With R I have to do a remote connection to a Machine Learning Server. Does it do that by default? I have not found an example using Machine Learning Server with Python in Power BI.

You need to install the remote access library for connection to ML Server with python. You may refer to docs below:

In addtion, currently power bi dataflow starts to support building simple ML Model without hard-code, you can refer to this doc:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-tutorial-build-machine-learning-model
