How to get Month to Date Sale of Previous Month with respect to Slicer Date

I am new to Power BI. I have one query. I have selected one of the date from slicer. Lets say 8th Jan -17. I have calculated the current month sales i.e. 1st Jan to 8th Jan 17 using DAX TOTALMTD. But i am unbale to get the MTD of same period for last month. i.e. 1st Dec-16 till 8th Dec-16.  The sales has to calculate previous months sales from 1st of every month till the date selected in slicer. Can anyone help me out?

Hi @prashanthku,

You can create a calendar, build a relationship between the calendar table and fact table based on the date:

a measure to return running total in the same period of last month like below:

PreviousMonth = TOTALMTD(SUM(Table9[Value]),DATEADD('Table9'[Date],-1,MONTH ))
