I am getting an error on this DAX query.

State Change Count =

CALCULATE (

    COUNTROWS ( 'States' ),

    ALLEXCEPT ( 'States', 'States'[Work Item Id] ),

    'States'[Date] <= EARLIER ( 'States'[Date] ),

    'States'[State Changed]

) + 0

A function 'PLACEHOLDER' has been used in a True/False expression that is used as a table filter expression. This is not allowed.

Is there anyone who can help me solve this please? I am new to Power BI. Thanks!

Hi @Jennilyn - it is because of invalid context for the table filter, you can use measure as below:

State Change Count =
CALCULATE(
COUNTROWS('States'),
FILTER(
ALL('States'),
'States'[Work Item Id] = MAX('States'[Work Item Id]) &&
'States'[Date] <= MAX('States'[Date]) &&
'States'[State Changed]
)
)
