How to create a horizontally stacked pyramid chart
- 2 years ago
Hi costing
It's possible that the functionality is missing in the trial version and you need to make a purchase.
I'm not an expert on such graphs because they are problematic for users to read. I'm also attaching links to two articles on the problems with both tornado and stacked graphs.

Hi Ritaf1983 I've tried what you suggested, however I'm not able to control the colours by the legend, is this possible? (It seems to be based on the link you sent me).
Here is the image from your link:
It seems 'Value A' represents the left side stacks. I'm hoping the legend would be independent of the value column.
Here's the data I'm using:
| category | sex | age1 | age2 | year | y_val |
| a | m | 1 | 5 | 2024 | alpha |
| a | f | 2 | 6 | 2024 | alpha |
| b | m | 3 | 3 | 2024 | alpha |
| b | f | 4 | 4 | 2024 | alpha |
| c | m | 5 | 2 | 2024 | alpha |
| c | f | 6 | 4 | 2024 | alpha |
| a | m | 4 | 6 | 2025 | beta |
| a | f | 5 | 2 | 2025 | beta |
| b | m | 6 | 1 | 2025 | beta |
| b | f | 3 | 2 | 2025 | beta |
| c | m | 4 | 3 | 2025 | beta |
| c | f | 2 | 4 | 2025 | beta |
| a | m | 4 | 5 | 2026 | gamma |
| b | m | 6 | 6 | 2026 | gamma |
| c | f | 2 | 4 | 2026 | gamma |
I noticed there needs to be two columns for the values, left and right. I can work around this, although I'd prefer to have just one value column and left/right be distinguished by a binary valued column, e.g. sex in the above example.
