Hello,
Please can you tell me how to change an import table to a live link table? (I tried to view the live link table in query editor with a view to copying the M code from the advanced editor to the old table, but the live link table does not show in query editor).
(I'd like to replace the original table to ensure all the visualisations aren't affected, as they refer to the old table)
Thank you,
PW
Solved! Go to Solution.
OK the solution was to delete all queries from the query editor, remove all data sources via the "Data source settings" and then create the live link (only if all the data sources have been removed first is there the option to create a live link)

Hi PW, I think you cannot switch from Import to Direct Query
Use DirectQuery in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
Kind regards,
Agata
Hi Agata I'm trying to convert tables from import to live connection.
I mean live connection. Sorry I don't think I was clear. I want to convert the file to a thin file, and just point it to the dataset on service without breaking all the visualisations. Is that possible?
Did you mean live connection or direct query? If import to DQ, that isn't possible - once import mode has been enabled there's no going back to direct query unless of course you have a copy of the pbix prior to the change. If you mean live connection, you can download a copy of that from the service.
