How to change column type from text to date

I have values in column "mm/dd/yyyy" as text and I want to change it to date format. How can I do that?

Proceed this way:

Click the column data type and select the option "Using Locale"

You can do it in the Power Query Editor.
To get to Power Query Editor, select Transform data from the Home tab of Power BI Desktop.

 

Then click on the data type of the column and change it to Date.

Hi, I've tried this approach but power bi thinks this text is in dd/mm/yyyy format so I got a lot of errors.

Proceed this way:
