How to build a line chart with values without counting?
Hi there!
I've been trying to build a line chart with, X: Time Y: values, but I can't get to see the individual values, only accumulating options are available (Count, Sum, Average, etc.). I need to see the different measurements per date, sometimes more than 1 per day, to observe trends.
I tried changing the settings in the table/column tools to don't summarize (Figure 1), also tried to change from number to general, but nothing changes. It looks like the "don't summarize" option is not available for the values in the line chart (Figure 2).
Would you please recommend me how to solve this issue?

You can make your date axis continuous only if you don't use the hierarchy. However, my test shows that whether I use continous or categorical, the dates appear categorical after expanding the hierarchy to the values level.

The line chart will summarize the Y-axis value based on the dimension put in the X-axis. The only way I can think of so the Y-axis value doesn't get summarized but is instead shown separately is to duplicate the Value column and use that in the X-axis as well.

It looks like that adding the values or even duplicating the date field in the Y axis allows me to drill through down to the data points. I'm afraid there is an issue with the dates format because I can't make them continuous, so now I have a long arrow at the bottom of my plot with all the dates.
I just thought there must be an easier/better way to do this.

Thank you so much danextian! I'm finally using the maximum to create my plot and the dates from this table without hierarchy, which can be seen as continuous.
