How to avoid refreshing the data in POWER BI query editor whenever I make any change to it?

*** I am not talking about the "Enable Load" option. That option only helps to exclude that query from the actual Data Model.

Question) I am puuling data directly from the CRM using an API Key. I have the data in power BI query editor at this time ready to make any changes. The problem is : If i make any changes to the data (even renamimng the column) the query starts refreshing and downloads the data again by pinging the datasource through the API. I have tried to reference the data and then work with it to make any changes but that does not work either.

Is there a option in POWER BI to overlay a table or to create "connection only"? Please Help

For your requirement, if are you are very familiar with the Power Query, you can open Query Editor -> Advanced Editor to write Power Query corresponding to the Applied Steps.

There is no such options as you said ,while your demand is a good idea, you can post your new idea here https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas , to improve the Power BI Desktop.
