How to apply Year slicer value to a visualization filter

Hi,

I have a Year slicer with the following value 2018, 2017, 2016 etc.....

In my report, there are 4 visualization and 3 of them are based on the year slicer to produce the visualization results. The last visualization is a Matrix with the Year as column field. I want this visualization to show the selected year, year-1 and year-2 data in the Matrix. I cannot multi-select the year in the slicer selection as the other 3 visualizations will show aggregate value of all the selected year if i do so.

How can i call the Year slicer value and perform a filter using the value is equal or less than OR value between to get my desired end result in the Matrix without impacting other visualizations? How can i get the dynamic selected slicer year to be used in my visualization filter?

Thanks.

@roytap,

You can create two year slicers to achieve the above reuqirement. Please follow the steps below.

1. Click on the first Year slicer, turn on Edit interactions. Then choose None for the second slicer and for the Matrix visual, choose Filter for the other three visuals.

2. Click on the second Year slicer, choose None for the first year slicer and for the other three visuals, choose filter for the Matrix visual.

This way, select value in the first year slicer to filter the three visuals and select multiple years in the second Year slicer to filter the Matrix visual.

Lydia

Thanks for the tips.

So i will need to create 2 year filters. This cannot be achieve with using only 1 year filter. This could confuse the user when there are 2 years filter on a single report.

@roytap,

It is not possible to achieve your requirement by using a single year slicer.
