How to apply Power BI Update
If you have Windows 7 or 8.x, you just download the new version and it will install over the old one. It remembers your most recently used list, preferences, etc.
If you have Windows 10, you can do the above, but I recommend you uninstall the downloadable Power BI desktop app and install the PBI desktop app from the Microsoft Store. That version is identical, except it does update itself automatically in the background, totally silently. You will always have the latest, and in recent months, that version has come out a few hours before the downloadable version when the new monthly features are out, if that kind of thing excites you.
